Horray for Indoor Tracks!
Snow has covered my normal running routes...here is how I have compensated:
SUNDAY
Kate and I went to the DHS track. I shoveled the snow off of lane one, and we did some speedwork.
MONDAY:
late night 8 miles on the treadmill
TUESDAY:
early morning 8 miles on the treadmill
WEDNESDAY:
snow day. i really didn't want to do 10 on the treadmill and winds were like 25mph, so the track was out. i made a call and was able to get into the dhs indoor track. 10 times around got me 1 mile...so after 100 laps(10Miles), which included a warmup, 4x1.5M @ 6:51pace, and a cooldown I was done for the day
TODAY:
thanks to a great custodian at the high school, Janet, Eli, and I were able to get into the field house at 4:30AM and put in 9miles at 8:32pace on the indoor track.
8miles at the indoor track tomorrow...17miles at kennekuk on saturday.
this will be my first 60 mile week!

Found A Good Half in Peoria
I needed to find a half marathon to test my fitness about 6 weeks before the Illinois Marathon. Last year, my buddy Doug pushed me in the Terre Haute Half to a 1:35:32 finish. If I can pull off a 1:35 again this spring (Sunday, March 21, 1PM) I'll be pretty happy.

Siberian Express...Chick'd
It was a little cold last Saturday when I ran the Siberian Express. The temperature at the starting line was 2° F with a wind chill of around -15°F. There was 2-3” of snow on the ground and the trails.
I started a little too far back and had a hard time getting up to the group where I should be running because the large group narrowed rather quickly and I was locked into a single track of runners. When the trail opened up a little I was able to pass several people and started to find my race pace. The second half of the race was great. I just didn't have it in me to make up for the first slow half of the race.
- My time was 1:01:54
- My pace was 8:11/mile
- I finished 64th out of 401 runners.
- I finished 63 out of 288 Men.
Yes, that's right I was beaten by one Woman. One reason to train a little harder this year.
